Construction Begins on the Nourish Centre
The Strathcona Food Bank begins to build a transformative centre for the region.

Construction Begins on the Nourish Centre
Last week, members of Strathcona County Council, community supporters, and project partners gathered with the Strathcona Food Bank to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Nourish Centre — a milestone moment for a project that will make a lasting impact in the community.
This week, construction officially begins. With the foundation set to be poured before winter, the vision for this purpose-built facility is taking tangible shape.
The Nourish Centre will transform how food security is supported in Strathcona County. Designed as a 14,000 ft² single-level facility, it will introduce a grocery-style shopping experience, expanded storage capacity, a community kitchen for nutrition and culinary programs, and accessible gathering spaces for families and volunteers. More than a food bank, it’s a space built for dignity, connection, and care.
Design Works Engineering is proud to contribute our structural, mechanical, electrical, and energy modelling expertise, ensuring this facility serves the community effectively for years to come.
Congratulations to the Strathcona Food Bank, the County, and all the partners helping make this vision a reality.
